The UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) has appointed Jeremy Sumeray to its executive team, as director of strategy.

Mr Sumeray joins from the Lafarge Group, where he spent 12 years in senior sustainability roles. Recently he has been seconded to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to lead the development of the government’s Sustainable Construction Strategy, and will make a phased transition to the UK-GBC from January, to be full-time from April.

Chief executive Paul King said Mr Sumeray would lead the UK-GBC’s “roadmap to sustainability”, which includes co-ordinating an expanding number of task groups being established to tackle particular barriers standing in the way of a sustainable built environment. He will also be involved in strategic membership recruitment as the UK-GBC gears up for a busy second year.
