UK construction orders rose by 6% in the year to April 2005, fresh DTI figures reveal.

Orders in the three months to April were unchanged from the previous three months, with increases in the public/private housing and private commercial sectors being offset by falls in public non-housing, private industrial work and infrastructure.

Both private housing and public housing/housing association instructions were up by 10% compared to the previous year.

Infrastructure orders, public non-housing and private commercial work all grew by 5%. The private industrial sector saw a 1% increase.
