Major UK timber agency UCM Timber plc has been confirmed as going into administration, although parts of the business are continuing.

Jason Godefroy and Andrew Stoneman of Duff & Phelps were appointed administrators of the London-based company yesterday.

“I can confirm that my partner Mr Stoneman and I were appointed joint administrators of UCM Timber plc, Balfour Timber Ltd, Churchill & Sim Group Ltd and Hollanden Timber Ltd on Wednesday February 1,” said Mr Godefroy. “Unfortunately, all four companies have ceased to trade and all employees have been made redundant.”

Mr Godefroy added that UCM Timber (Specialities) Ltd is not in administration and to his knowledge continues to trade as normal. News is also due on UCM’s overseas operations.

There was no further information available at the time, he said.

UCM describes itself on its website as an agency and trading group operating globally and specialising in timber and forest products, primarily softwoods, hardwoods, panel products, and a range of added-value components and finished goods. It lists subsidiary companies in the UK, Republic of Ireland, US, Canada, Singapore, China and Brazil.
