UCM Timber plc is to acquire Dallas-based importer/exporter Interpan North America from Metsäliitto for an undisclosed sum.
Interpan imports timber from Germany and Austria for US customers, while it exports wood to international buyers. Panel products are also sourced from both Brazilian and US manufacturers and sold in domestic and export markets.
“Interpan is an excellent fit with the UCM Group and significantly extends our presence in one of the world’s major markets,” said UCM managing director Mark Plews.
“The company will also complement our timber sourcing and international sales activity through Meridian Forest Products Inc based in Portland, Oregon and the two organisations will be co-operating closely.”
The acquisition takes UCM group sales to more than £100m worldwide.
