Essex-based Wood International Agency Ltd has said Greenpeace’s backing of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified Chilean Tulsa Form as a replacement for traditional concrete forming boards vindicates its commitment to environmental best practice.

Greenpeace’s Setting a new standard: Alternatives to unsustainable plywood report outlines certified replacement materials for what the environmental organisation describes as “throwaway products”. This includes OSB for hoarding, portable buildings and repair work, and FSC Chilean Tulsa Form in formwork applications.

It also called for OSB to be used more regularly in permanent construction applications like roofs, floors and walls.

Wood International Agency is the sole European agent for FSC Chilean Tulsa Form, supplying it to companies in the UK and the rest of the Continent.

“We are delighted that this report issued by Greenpeace endorses our commitment to providing our customers with high quality products which are sustainably sourced,” said managing director Alan Lamont.

“We are proud of being a company that has always supported the environment, and our customers can be sure that our plywood, whether FSC certified or not, has been produced from well-managed plantation forest,” said Tulsa general manager Gina Pagliotti.
