The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has welcomed increased co-operation between Europe’s leading timber trade bodies aimed at promoting the forest product sector within the EU.

FEBO (the European Timber Trade Association), UCBD (European Hardwoods Association) and UCIP (European Panel Products Association) have agreed to increase their co-operation in representing the trade’s interests in the EU.

An initial step will see the groups, together with the European Softwood conference, meet for talks, focusing on public relations.

The TTF supports the development, which it says could eventually lead to complete integration with one organisation representing all sectors of the trade.

Paul Martin, TTF director-general, said: “With the European Commission currently working on directives of great importance to the trade, it is vital that we have one clear voice in Europe.”
