The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has clarified its recent warning over the BBA certification claims of a Chinese plywood product following discussions with traders.

The TTF said Premier Forest Products had asked it to point out that the product concerned – Pine Deck –and plywood with similar names, had been recently purchased by Premier from the administrators of FG Hawkes (Western) Ltd (which traded as RKL Plywood).

Premier confirmed the products do not possess a current BBA certificate and that the company has not purported that they carry such a certificate. Furthermore, it said the products would not be sold with any such BBA certification claims.

“The company has made it clear that should any claims be made about any product in the future, whether or not sold under this brand name, then they will be supported by all appropriate certificates and documentation to support the claim,” the TTF said.

Premier has also pointed out that it carries a range of Brazilian elliotis pine plywood products that do carry BBA documentation, in this case a CE Marking Application Guide (CEMAG)

The earlier TTF warning had said BBA certification claims of a product called Pine Deck were false as the BBA certificate relating to the product expired prior to 2007.
