Tsar Timber Distribution Ltd will open its second UK importing terminal and sales office at the Port of Shoreham in July.
The company anticipates importing between 20,000-25,000m3 of Russian redwood and whitewood to Shoreham in the first year and the first vessel is due to arrive from Arkhangel at the beginning of July.
Tsar Timber says the new venture will give it better access to the greater London and southern UK sawn timber markets.
The Shoreham sales office will be run by Sam Carmichael who is relocating from the company’s other UK office at Goole.
Tsar Timber imports 65,000-70,000m3 of sawn timber through Goole from Arkhangel, Karelia, the Urals and Siberia
