Long-span trussed rafters have provided a roofing solution for the new Creswick Junior School, Welwyn Garden City.

Almost 500 trusses in more than 45 different configurations were designed and manufactured for the project by Trussed Rafter Association member Dover Trussed Roof Company.

The roof for the eight-classroom main wing features mono trusses with a 17.5 degree pitch and a span of nearly 11m.

A more conventional truss arrangement was used to create the assembly/sports hall roof. One section was pre-assembled and craned into position before a bank of 20 Velux roof lights were positioned in a void within the truss structure.
