Leading US tropical hardwood specialist Timber Holdings International is launching a wood-plastic composite decking range.

The company, which owns the successful Iron Woods brand of durable hardwood products, has signed an agreement with Correct Building Products, which will manufacture a commercial grade composite deck board (hardwood fibre and recycled plastic).

Milwaukee-based Timber Holdings International said it recognised that some of its customers were looking for commercial decking that combined the durability of tropical hardwoods along with colour options for particular applications without the need for staining.

The result is Iron Woods CX, featuring Correct Building Products’ CX technology designed to give low-maintenance characteristics and resistance to fading and mildew and mould problems.

“Having Timber Holdings promoting CX for commercial and municipal applications will boost brand awareness and elevate CX to the next level in the commercial and municipal deck, dock and boardwalk market segment,” said Greg Ciampa, vice-president of sales and marketing for Correct Building Products.

Timber Holdings International has its own operation in Brazil, from which it sources products including ipé, garapa and cumaru lumbera and decking.
