A kitchen manufacturer, a timber merchant and a manufacturer of timber gates and fencing are among companies to be granted the new Royal Warrant of Appointment to The King.
British kitchen manufacturer Stoneham plc, a Royal Warrant holder to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II since 1995, continues to be recognised for its supply of goods and services to the Royal Households. The news comes at a very fitting time for Kent-based Stoneham Kitchens as it celebrates its 160th anniversary.
“Sustainability is very important to the King as it is to Stoneham Kitchens,” said Howard Stoneham, sales director.
“As part of our environmental goals, we source all our timber sustainably and this year, for our 160th, we pledged to plant 2,000 trees to re-establish lost woodlands in Europe. We are fully in support of the Royal Household’s objective in making transformative change and encouraging current and future Royal Warrant applicants to make a difference.”
Charltons are a 5th generation family business and A.J. Charlton’s son, Michael, originally applied for the Royal Warrant, which was awarded to Charltons in 2000 after supplying Sandringham Estate for the previous six years and have also supplied other Royal Estates including Buckingham Palace. The Frome-based company manufactures timber gates and fencing.
Charltons are one of just over 800 Warrant holders and have been awarded the Warrant for the next 4 years.
Timber merchant Cordiners is one of the oldest family businesses in Scotland. Managing director Stuart J A Cordiner said he was thrilled to be informed that the company had been granted a royal Warrant. Cordiners held a royal warrant for goods supplied to the late Queen for many years.
The King, then the Duke of Rothesay, visited Cordiners in September 2021 to mark the 150th anniversary of the company and spent time talking to staff and touring the site.
Royal Warrants are a highly prized mark of recognition for individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to one of the Royal Households. It entitles that company to use the Royal Coat of Arms on its products, packaging, stationery, vehicles and premises.
