A belt of trees is to be planted along a 17km stretch of the tsunami-ravaged coast of Kollam as a barrier against future incidents.
The Kerala government also plans to build “eco villages” in 14 selected areas. These will include public gardens, medicinal plant parks and fast-growing trees of timber value.
