Travis Perkins’ group turnover was up 6% for the nine months to the end of September, the company has reported in an interim statement.

The group said it continued to gain like-for-like market share in both its merchanting and retailing divisions.

Turnover in the merchanting vision was up 7.8%, with like-for-like turnover per trading day increasing by 7.1%. Third quarter like-for-like turnover per trading day jumped by 10.3%, though this rate has shown signs of moderating in recent weeks.

General merchanting turnover for the nine months was up 7.3%, with the like-for-like result up by 6.5%.

Wickes’ turnover for the 39 weeks to October 2 was up 2.1%, with like-for-like turnover per trading day down by 0.1%. Core product sales fell by 2.8% but showroom sales grew by 11.9%.

However, the past 13 weeks saw weaker buying trends with fewer big ticket purchases.

“These trends mean that group trading for the last three months is in line with out expectations,” the group said.
