Travis Perkins’ core general merchanting division recorded a 6.1% sales growth in the four months to April 30 but prolonged wet weather has hit trading in April and early May.

In its interim management statement, Travis Perkins said general merchanting recorded a 2.6% growth on a like-for-like basis.

“After a good first quarter, record levels of rainfall contributed to a weaker performance in April and the early part of May where activity levels at sites continue to be impacted by the very wet weather,” it said.

The company’s latest statement includes Toolstation which was consolidated from January 3.
