Travis Perkins has acquired the business and assets of London builders’ merchant Lawford & Sons Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Lawford’s two sites are at Queens Park, which has a £7.9m annual turnover, and at Hendon, which turns over £1.3m.

It is the latest in Travis Perkins’ continued national network expansion, bringing the number of new branches this year to 15.

Chief executive of Travis Perkins Frank McKay told TTJ that Lawford’s timber range was not extensive. It concentrated more on the heavy side – brick and block.

But he promised extended timber ranges and the introduction of tool hire.

Mr McKay said: ‘We are delighted to have added these two branches to our network. Lawfords is a strong, well-supported business.’

Lawford, established in 1840, will keep its name. The addition of the two sites gives Travis Perkins 488 branches overall.
