A heavyweight third-party Q-Mark certification scheme for the lifetime performance of hinged and pivot doorsets has been launched by BM TRADA Certification in response to growing demand from building estate managers and other specifiers.
The demand has particularly come from estate managers responsible for hospitals who had indicated that doorset durability was a real issue.
“While they are able to determine though third-party certification how well a product might perform in the event of a fire or an attempted forced entry, there is nothing currently in place that demonstrates durability,” said Q-Mark product certification manager Simon Beer.
The new scheme is based on sister company Chiltern Dynamics’ Classification for Service Life Test Programme CDTM01.
Several doorset manufacturers have already undergone testing with Chiltern Dynamics, but the new scheme offers them independent third-party verification.
