Timber fire door manufacturers are well placed to take advantage of market opportunities afforded by new test standards, according to the author of a TRADA guidance document which has just been published.

Jon Osborn, who wrote ‘Fire resistant doorsets: maintaining performance under the new European test standard’ said manufacturers would have to invest resources to achieve BS EN rating but the rewards will be the opening up of new markets.

The publication, the result of a government sponsored research project, explains the main differences between the new test and current British standards.
