Around 250 architects, designers, engineers, contractors amd surveyors descended on the Queen Elizbeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London to hear a number of speakers address the growing role of timber in construction and design.

These included Glenn Howells from Glenn Howells Architects, who discussed the technical developments that designers and engineers needed to embrace to complete the Savill Building in Windsor Great Park, and Martin Wood, a partner at Bryden Wood Associates, who addressed the role of timber in efficient construction.

“Initial feedback from delegates has been so positive that it has reinforced our view that we should not wait a further two years to repeat In Touch With Timber. We will run it again in 2008,” said Mr Abbott.

As well as a host of talks on incorporating timber into construction projects at the design stage, the event also saw the launch of TRADA‘s new online briefing service that has been designed to act as a reference point for information on Building Regulations.
