Dorset-based Townsend Timber has expanded its range to include UK-sourced timber cladding.
The company said offering durable native species would reduce its carbon footprint.
Managing director Simon Notley said the company had noticed timber had become a popular choice for people building or extending their homes.
“We find that some consumers and construction professionals are not aware that several home-grown species of timber have great durability and are resilient to the UK’s ever-changing weather conditions, making an excellent insulator and a highly attractive finished product,” he said.
Townsend will source the majority of the range from the south-west of England and will offer an installation service.
Mr Notley said sourcing native species would cut down on transport and the use of commercial preservatives.
