Tim Gregson, clerk of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters, said that the level set by previous winners, such as Glen Howells Architects for the Savill Building, coupled with the standard of this year’s entries, wouldl make it tough going for the judging panel.

“This year’s shortlist is very impressive indeed,” said Mr Gregson. “There is no doubt that the judges are going to have to make some difficult decisions in deciding the winners.”

The 2007 awards have attracted 222 entries, including projects such as Gorilla Kingdom at London Zoo, that have been whittled down to a shortlist of 30, which will be revealed at the 100% Detail show in September. This will be followed by the awards ceremony at Carpenters’ Hall on October 17.
