Traditional Russian log home producer Pine-wood is planning to market its homes in the UK in order to offer home buyers a “unique” product.

St Petersburg-based Pine-wood uses traditional Russian timber building techniques from the Kizh building period coupled with modern methods to create its homes, with manually-planed logs, W-shaped grooves, Canadian cup grooves and hidden wiring creating “fairy tale of Tolkien houses”.

It recently completed work on Europe’s largest planed log building, the Blessed Virgin Church in St Petersburg, which used no nails in its construction.

“Pine-wood knows future clients will be fascinated by its houses which many call fairy tale or Tolkien houses,” it said.

Complete building envelopes, including roof, windows, doors, ceilings and stairs, costs from €1,100/m².
