Timbmet has launched a range of passive window and door components that it claims can help reduce household energy consumption by 90%.
Timbmet, which won Hardwood Trader and Timber Trader of the Year at the TTJ Awards 2007 last week, said the components, when installed as part of a passive house, can help developments meet new government targets for carbon emissions as well as allowing homeowners to benefit from low-energy consumption incentives and tax breaks.
They have been developed in response to rapidly increasing demand for super eco-friendly passive houses.
The timber components are made from a variety of species such as oak and sapele and can be combined with additional materials such as Puranite, cork and PU foam.
Passive door panels “have been specially designed to satisfy the low U-value demands of progressive projects of all types”, the company said.
