The British Columbia provincial government has given TimberWest Forest Corporation C$14m in an out of court settlement for taking the company’s Walbran Valley and Hitchie Creek harvesting rights nine years ago.
The government expropriated the rights to create parks under the Park Amendment Act, 1995.
TimberWest said it had taken years of hard work to achieve a settlement.
