Helveta, the UK-based timber and food supply chain intelligence software systems specialist, has been ranked as one of the country’s fastest growing tech companies.

The business came eleventh in the 2010 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 listings following 2,049% revenue growth over the last five years.

Helveta attributed its success to the continuing “development of forestry and food markets” and EU initatives encouraging adoption of chain of custody.

The company, which won a TTJ Environmental Achievement Award for its work with The Forest Trust (TFT) in establishing chain of custody systems in FSC-certified forests in Africa, was also ranked third overall in the Deloitte listings in the software developer category.

Helveta chief executive Patrick Newton said global demand for its CI World supply chain traceability technology is set to rise further, particularly for natural resources based products originating from the developing world.

“With continued economic and manufacturing expansion in the developing world, twinned with increased interest [elsewhere] in verifying the legality and sustainability of products, we expect to see growth continue.”
