Timber was ranked first in general cargo handling at Latvia’s Riga port during the first nine months of 2002, with 3.1 million tonnes handled.

At Liepaja port timber handling was up 6.7% to 578,400 tonnes during the same period.

Estonia’s Parnu Ports suffered a 19.2% drop in round timber exports to 723,451 tonnes. Woodchip handling totalled 225,899 tonnes and sawn wood was 103,808 tonnes.
