A retail outlet dedicated to the sale of staircases has opened in West Norwood.
Aimed at architects, specifiers and builders in the main – plus “style conscious householders with funds” – Stairplace is an offshoot of The Loft Shop Ltd.
Managing director Peter Stedman said the products ranged from fully customised and made-to-measure stairs to modular made-to- measure stairs and in-stock standard solutions for next-day delivery.
He said that wooden staircases and those with wooden treads accounted for a good proportion of sales but added: “I think people’s appreciation of timber for the interior of their homes is limited.”
The company also aims to promote a range of Canadian solid hardwood flooring from the Knights Hill premises.
