Edward River House, in Deniliquin, designed by Jackson Clements Burrows, won the top award in the national competition held to promote outstanding timber design.

Guest speaker was acclaimed architect Peter Stutchbury, winner of the inaugural Award in 2000, and a champion of environmentally sustainable design. “Sustainability makes life easier, is more economical and it has to be a way we think in the future,” he said.

The winner of the Environmental Commitment Award was Arena Design Architects with its Environmental Learning Facility, featuring red ironbark columns and trusses recycled from a former regional railway bridge.
