Rwandan timber traders have blamed the government’s forest protection policy for a doubling of timber prices.
The cost of a piece of timber has reportedly risen from US$1.80 to US$3.60 because of dwindling supplies caused by the ministry of environment’s fight against deforestation.
Dealers also said increased transport costs have fuelled prices.
