West London merchant Moss & Co has provided props for a major new BBC dramatisation about a timber dynasty.

The six-part series, which started on June 22, is based on Elizabeth Jane Howard’s semi-autobiographical novels about an East London timber dynasty between 1937-47, called The Cazalet Chronicles.

Items lent by Moss & Co, established in 1885, include original 1930s price lists, an old log book and an ebony ledger ruler.

A 1909 photo showing the firm’s Hammersmith yard entrance was digitally edited to show the series actors.

The BBC enlisted the firm’s help, including with research, because of its close proximity to Shepherd’s Bush television centre and its long history.

The Cazalets is on BBC 1 at 9pm on Fridays.
