The Marches Woodland Initiative, Ludlow, has launched a Virtual Timber Yard selling wood products from ‘sustainable’ sources.

The on-line shop window, www.mwi.org.uk, allows visitors to view local companies’ products, including hardwood doors, windows and flooring, and also to obtain quotes and order on-line.

Companies featured are all within the West Midlands area and the Marches Woodland Initiative says that all their timber can be traced back to its woodland source.

Richard Robertson, project officer, said that the initiative had both commercial and environmental benefits: ‘The Virtual Timber Yard helps the local economy and, by sourcing local timber, transportation is reduced, minimising energy consumed in processing material to the final product.’
