President Vladimir Putin and his Finnish counterpart, Tarja Halonen, met to discuss trade and customs between the two countries.
Forestry is one of the main areas of co-operation between Russia and Finland, with 20% of the Finnish timber industry working for Russian companies. Recently, Russia has signalled its intentions to switch from exporting logs to domestic processing.
The two presidents also discussed ways of stepping up investment co-operation, particularly in hi-tech industries.
