A social housing project dubbed ‘Homes for the 21st Century’ uses a timber frame panel system manufactured by Blyth-based Timber Frame Solutions.
The 15 homes, built across two sites in Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead, are designed to be energy efficient, offer flexible living space and use sustainable building materials.
Mark Hanson of developer Hightown Praetorian Housing Association said: “A breathable, timber-based solution was the ideal construction to meet the project specification; sustainable with unrivalled energy efficiency, as well as delivering fast on-site build time with minimal waste.”
Tradis panels were used for external walls, intermediate floors and roofs of each of the two-storey terraced houses. A combination of brick and cedar boarding was used for the external finish.
To maximise living space, 240mm deep Tradis panels were used for the roofs, while intermediate floors were constructed with 240mm Masonite beams.
