Nominet, which handles internet registry services for all .uk domain names, confirmed that it has started a data quality investigation after it found the London address attached to the website registration of www.timberframefires.co.uk does not exist.

Now the creators of the site, which has relentlessly knocked timber frame fire safety since being set up in 2010, will have several weeks to give bona fide address details or face the site being suspended and ultimately de-registered.

TTJ contacted Nominet with its concerns after all previous attempts to track down the creators of the website had failed.

Nominet said .uk websites needed to be registered to a real world entity, either a limited company or individual and they need to provide an address for correspondence.

"This address does not exist," it said. "If they can’t update the information, the website gets taken down and any services associated with it will cease. It would not be renewed because they would no longer have the domain registered."

No contact details are on www.timberframefires.co.uk while an internet domain registration search reveals a Kensington address and telephone number for a David Trodego, listed as the registrant on a UK domain name internet search.

The telephone number is actually for the House of Commons, while the specific flat number at the Phillimore Court address in Kensington does not exist, fuelling speculation about the identity of the website’s creators.

If anybody has any information on who is behind this website please contact TTJ on 020 8269 7810.
