Ten luxury timber frame eco homes have been constructed in the Yorkshire countryside.

The three-bed homes, made by Rhymney-based Excel Building Solutions for environmentally-friendly builders Ecobuild, are set in 50 acres of woodlands and pastures on the edge of Richmond.

They feature 150mm deep stud walls using Forest Stewardship Council-certified timber and Warmcel 500 recycled newspaper insulation, delivering a U-value of 0.2W/m2K.

The walls, clad externally with cedar, feature EVT (enhance vapour transfer technology) to prevent interstitial condensation, while the curved roof is topped with a green sedum covering.
