A timber component supplier to the bed industry has been fined £3,500 after one of its workers lost parts of his fingers in machinery.
Bradford-based Peter Ramsey & Sons (Denholme) Timber admitted breaches of Healthy and Safety at Work regulations during a hearing before city magistrates.
The court heard that the employee lost the tips of four fingers in a moulder as he tried to release a piece of wood which was blocking the machine.
In mitigation, the company said it had used the guarding supplied with the machine but that extra guarding had now been fitted.
The company manufactures components such as bed slats and headboard struts for the bed and furniture manufacturing industries.
