South African rescue services have come to the aid of a timber carrier which hit a reef en route to Durban.
The 160m-long 15,000-ton Kiperousa was near Port Alfred on the Eastern Cape when it hit the reef and began taking on water.
National Sea Rescue Institute boats and a tug from the National Ports Authority were dispatched to help the ship, which was carrying timber from West Africa.
