CHAP Homes is proposing to turn brownfield land in Royal Deeside into a community of 1,000 homes housing up to 3,000 people and wants to make the development, named Park Village, “the most sustainable settlement in Scotland”.

This would see timber sourced from regenerated forests used as a key component during the construction phase in order to help minimise the 240-acre site’s carbon footprint, according to CHAP Homes.

“The design mix of homes, services, community facilities and business opportunities, plus the proximity to Aberdeen city and the upgrading of transport links, mean that Park Village would meet the criteria for what is required and expected in a 21st century high amenity development,” said CHAP Home’s managing director Bill Burr.

“Our emphasis on a self-sustaining community is central to the development which will be innovative in new ways of living, working and minimising travel.”

CHAP Homes has added that, despite only being at the structural plan and consultation stage, there could be “a thriving village” at the site within five years.
