Excel Building Solutions’ EVT wall panel system has been specified in the construction of a new eco centre at Cockermouth School, Cumbria.
EVT features a frame sheathed with Panelvent external sheathing board and an internal layer of Paneline, with Warmcel 500 insulation, produced from recycled newspaper, filling the structure.
The use of Excel’s EVT system resulted from staff and pupils at the school wanting to use sustainable materials throughout the construction in the eco centre.
In keeping with this, the 550m2 building is supported by a glulam frame, with the use of concrete kept to a minimum.
Other environmentally-friendly features of the eco centre include photovoltaic cells in the roof, a 9m wind turbine and a 4,000 litre rainwater collection system.
