The backlog of plywood which built up at the Port of Tilbury at the start of the year is beginning to clear.
Eddie Goodwin, commercial director at the Port of Tilbury, said Harrison Logistics going into liquidation (TTJ January 19) had complicated the storage build-up which was further complicated when the port placed a lien on the timber cargoes of Pan Ocean Shipping Company Ltd because of money owed.
However, the port is now happy with the financial situation and the lien has been removed.
Mr Goodwin said: ‘Deliveries have picked up since mid-January and have been very strong. We are getting back to normal.’
Charles Gee and Co has taken on the general agency work of Pan Ocean Shipping from Harrison Logistics (TTJ January 26).
