Maginus, a £3m computer system, has helped International Decorative Surfaces (IDS) achieve ISO 9001:2000 accreditation in just eight weeks.
IDS is the first distributor of its size within the surface materials sector to gain the accreditation which endorses the quality management systems at its 10 branches nationwide.
Operations director Phil Lovelock worked with a team of five to examine all facets of the business which stocks 20,000 product lines and processes more than 25,000 transactions a month.
Maginus, installed in a restructuring programme led by managing director John Bagshaw, provides instant and accurate management information on stock availability, pricing, sales order processing and delivery.
The self-auditing system was accepted by external auditor BM TRADA Certification as satisfying its ISO criteria without the need for its own separate auditing.
