Penthouses at George Wimpey‘s luxury £6.75m Times Square development in Headlingley have been constructed using a bespoke timber frame system.
Main contractor Caddick Construction specified timber frame for the 12 penthouses, spread across two five-storey blocks, because it offered a much faster build time than brick and block construction used on lower floors.
Blyth-based Timber Frame Solutions (TFS) designed, manufactured and erected the system, featuring external 89mm stud frame walls with OSB sheathing and Trespa composite board as cladding.
Caddick said TFS offered better value in the construction programme and provided a one-stop-shop for walls, insulation, cladding, roof and guttering.
