The new category in the TTJ Awards has been created to recognise companies which help push the boundaries in the use of timber and wood products .

After much deliberation, Award judges TRADA marketing manager Rupert Scott, Timber Expo managing director Darren Richards and TTJ editor Mike Jeffree selected ten entrants for the shortlist.

A smaller number of runners up and the winner will be announced at the TTJ Awards on September 14. Mr Richards said the calibre of entries was outstanding.

“In an austere economic climate it was inspiring to see companies finding creative solutions ,” he said.

The ten short listed companies were; BSW for its Porcupine pre-treatment incising machine, Coillte Panel Products for Medite Tricoya, Frankland Tree Services for its use of urban wood, KLH UK Ltd for its cross laminated timber innovation, Lonza Wood Protection for Tanalith E8000 preservative, Roofspace Solutions for its engineered wood I Roof, Bournemouth University for its flat-pack plwood build system, Sherpa Connection Systems for its aluminium timber and engineered wood connector, Tenmat for its cavity fire barrier and Armadilla for its timber pod building.
