TECO, the independent US panel certification system, has launched a patented tongue and groove profile for structural wood panels.
TECO T&G was developed with assistance from Weyerhaeuser and is compatible with other common profiles on the market.
It was originally designed for plywood, although it but can also be used with OSB panels, and is available under licence, TECO said.
Certification and testing division, president Steve Winistorfer said: “There is nothing more frustrating for builders than to have mismatched T&G profiles from different suppliers on the same job.
“In the absence of an industry standard, we took extra steps in the design phase to ensure our T&G would be compatible with others on the market, yet not infringe on the details of their designs.”
