The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London, together with Timber Development UK, held a meeting to engage with key UK timber stakeholders on the implications of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the UK Forest Risk Commodities Regulation.

The January 7 discussion was designed to provide a valuable platform to gain insights into the regulations, explore opportunities and identify strategic recommendations for the relevant stakeholders.

Opening remarks were made by Ambassador Desra Percaya, with a panel discussion involving Chris Sutton, The Chair of Timber Development UK, David Hopkins, TDUK CEO, and Emily Fripp, EFECA managing director, moderated by Ayu Siti Maryam, Trade Attache.

Emily Fripp provided an overview of regulation requirements, presenting the timeline for implementation of the EUDR, and how compliance readiness may be reshaping business strategy. It was also an opportunity to discuss Indonesia’s timber legality assurance system, SVLK, and the part it plays in preparing for regulation.

The EUDR’s implementation has been deferred to 30 December 2025 for large companies, and 30 June 2026 for small companies.
