The Timber Decking Association is to launch a dispute resolutions service.

Press officer Steve Young said: ‘The TDA exists to try to promote quality standards and procedures so the timber decking market can be sustainable.

‘We are also concerned that poor practice will lead to the market disintegrating.

‘We have had a number of calls from consumers who are in dispute with suppliers. For instance, one supplier used a high pressure nail gun on hardwood, causing it to split. There has only been one complaint in three years against any member of the TDA.’

He says the launch of the arbitration and conciliation service is intended to boost consumer confidence adding; ‘It shows people there are safeguards if there is any cause for concern.’
