The operation, formerly CR Taylor’s Thornton Road branch, was acquired from administrators by managing director Charles Taylor last summer. It was rebranded and refocused on selling timber, wood products and sheet materials to West Yorkshire builders, joiners and diyers, with a particular emphasis on meeting the needs of the region’s "multi-cultural customer base".

The business has also invested £60,000 on plant and machinery, including panel, cross-cut and deep-cut saws.

Mr Taylor put the success of the the company on meeting customer’s precise requirements, cost-effectiveness and staff commitment.
"We’ve concentrated on service, offering a more convenient wider range of product, and making it easier to collect from the yard, as well as offering same or next-day delivery," he said. "Lower overheads also mean better prices and our seven-strong team has worked hard – and been rewarded with a pay rise."

He said the company, which is signed up to the government-funded Growth Accelerator small business advisory scheme, was trading profitably and was setting up online sales and looking at new product areas, including fencing and garden products.

According to the company’s Billy Beaumont, Taylor’s is now also offering third-party sourced trussed rafters and Posi-Joists and set to install a planer thicknesser.
