A new Tasmanian forest plan has been designed to save old-growth areas and create more than 1,000 jobs in the timber industry.
The initiative, launched by conservation groups, requires A$250m of government funding over five years to foster private investment and help re-skill more than 300 workers who would be affected by the plan.
The groups say they want to protect 240,000ha from logging.
