Forest Tasmania (FT) has agreed the MOU wih Camp Florentine after several meetings that centred on concerns that loggers were destroying the island’s biodiversity, which is described by Australia’s Wilderness Society as “one of the greatest temperate wilderness areas on Earth”.

Under the MOU, which will remain in place until Tasmania’s federal elections in October, Camp Florentine has agreed to allow already felled logs to be removed from the area and building work on access roads to continue, while FT will not commence any new road building or harvesting.
