Estonian sawmiller Sylvester has not followed up its plan to build a mill in Daugavpils, Latvia, prompting speculation that it has abandoned the project.

The Daugavpils Council of Directors, made up of businessman in the region, says there has been no contact with Sylvester since June and a planned visit to the area never materialised.

Sylvester originally said it was looking for a 25ha site with a railway and an electric power sub-station nearby.
