In an agreement with Swindon-based Crocodile, Sylva acquires part of the former’s timber frame business, including its design and erecting team.

Sylva, based near Oxford, will purchase their timber frames and associated products, including metal-web joists, from Crocodile.

Crocodile will continue to manufacture and supply timber frames and associated products – such as floor and roof cassettes, plus Mitek Posi-Joists – to the rest of the trade on a sub-contract supply only basis.

Sylva supplies several other different systems to clients including SIPs, cross-laminated timber and insulated concrete formwork via third-party manufacturers.

“The acquisition will allow us to widen our market, integrate our supply chain and provide much more for our customers,” said Craig Strachan, development director of Sylva Group.

“Sylva’s expertise will provide a significant technical boost to our ability to service the timber frame sector over the next few years,” added Quentin Philip, Crocodile’s managing director. Crocodile also operates an industrial wood packaging operation.
